Nursing diagnoses in a laboratory of clinical cardiac electrophysiology.

Abstract

Goals: 1.- To identify nursing diagnoses and potential complications used in the laboratory of clinical cardiac electrophysiology. 2.- To create a standardized care plan.
Material and methods: A retrospective observational descriptive study. Sample: The 164 patients who underwent electrophysiological study in the year 2000. The existing nursing records were used for the collection of data.  Having gathered these data the nursing diagnoses and the existing potential complications were identified and the standardized care plan was made, following the Carpenito’s model and using the NANDA taxonomy.
Results: 8 nursing diagnoses, of which 5 were risk diagnoses, were identified together with 7 potential complications.
Conclusions: The setting up of a standardized care plan enables all nurses to delivery a standard high level of care.
